The artist was honest that the piece was going to have to wait because of their slots being filled up, right? Cool, A-OKAY in my book, and in my humble opinion. Well. They finished it. I AM BLOWN AWAY. Never have waited over a week for some pieces, my most expensive piece took a month to do, and I would honestly be willing to wait that long for something like this if I had to. While the artwork for the slot is good, communication could severely be improved. There are some information that would've been helpful if it were stated in the beginning of the communication (through chat) or even written in the description. As the artist mentioned that other clients usually put a lot of their references first thing, please understand that each client is different and it will be good if the artist could also give a simple confirmation of "If that's all the reference is. I will start working now" so the client would also be a part of the decision making process in the art. Sometimes clients don't throw all of the references firsthand because they need confirmation from the artist. I understand the slot I booked may not be as "big" as the other ones, but I expect the same type of clear communication and disclaimer that a draft will not be provided nor will there be any revisions. It would also help greatly if the artist could be a bit more responsive in chat. I also take this as a learning point for me as a client to be better and I hope the artist will do the same and be upfront and improve their communication overall. I see that others have a good / better experience with this artist, so please take my review with a grain of salt. I could simply have been unlucky or caught the artist during a bad day.
