I would like to start with the positive: the style of the character model was very cute. Unquestionably the artist is talented. But unfortunately for what I asked for, and what I received, there were some glaring issues. It was a challenge to receive any progress through the entirety of the project. I received 2 WIPS at the VERY early stages of the work, and was told after that they didn't want to show me anymore because they wanted me to be excited about the end results. As an artist myself, I do understand this, but I was incredibly specific about what I wanted, and addressed some concerns right off the bat-- I had good reason to worry about these changes-- and when I got the final project those concerns had not really been addressed. I also sent as many references as I could, examples so on and so forth. In the finished work, there were elements of those examples that were literally cut out and pasted into the artwork I received in the final. That was not what I was looking for, I was looking for the work to replicate what was used as an example, not for that asset to be literally used, all things we could have addressed had we had some progress check-points as we went along. I asked to receive a version of the work with that asset excluded (as it was not mine to use), and I never received that update either. The price was not super high, so there's not much I can argue there.. For many I think it would be an acceptable render, for me I had a clear vision and I asked this artist if it could be achieved, to which the response was 'yes'. For all intents and purposes, I would say if you want the artist to reflect a vision for you, this artist would be a great choice. If, however, you have something specific in mind, my suggestion might be to choose an artist with a bit better back and forth.

I would like to start with the positive: the style of the character model was very cute. Unquestionably the artist is talented. But unfortunately for what I asked for, and what I received, there were some glaring issues. It was a challenge to receive any progress through the entirety of the project. I received 2 WIPS at the VERY early stages of the work, and was told after that they didn't want to show me anymore because they wanted me to be excited about the end results. As an artist myself, I do understand this, but I was incredibly specific about what I wanted, and addressed some concerns right off the bat-- I had good reason to worry about these changes-- and when I got the final project those concerns had not really been addressed. I also sent as many references as I could, examples so on and so forth. In the finished work, there were elements of those examples that were literally cut out and pasted into the artwork I received in the final. That was not what I was looking for, I was looking for the work to replicate what was used as an example, not for that asset to be literally used, all things we could have addressed had we had some progress check-points as we went along. I asked to receive a version of the work with that asset excluded (as it was not mine to use), and I never received that update either. The price was not super high, so there's not much I can argue there.. For many I think it would be an acceptable render, for me I had a clear vision and I asked this artist if it could be achieved, to which the response was 'yes'. For all intents and purposes, I would say if you want the artist to reflect a vision for you, this artist would be a great choice. If, however, you have something specific in mind, my suggestion might be to choose an artist with a bit better back and forth.
