Generally, in my experience the process goes like this :
You write me what do you want me to draw for you.
A short and to the point description, couple paragraphs max.
Then we discuss the details of what should be in the drawing.
Then we would discuss and negotiate the price.
And then once the order is placed, I would draw the picture for you! :)
