This is not a comprehensive list but should cover most bases. If uncertain, feel free to inquire.
General Rules
Please have adequate visual reference material for your character(s) for the commission requested. A written description of the character(s) will not suffice and I will likely decline the commission.
I will draw kemonomimi/animal ears characters.
I will not draw full-on furry or anthropomorphic characters (this includes Monster Musume style characters).
I will draw simple action scenes and minor amounts of violence and injury.
I will not draw excessively violent content (gore, guts, etc)
I will not draw mecha, giant robots, or other overly complex machinery.
I will not draw characters owned by western corporations (e.g., Marvel, DC, Disney).
I may draw characters from Japanese anime and manga (or Korean manhwa). The more such commissions I complete, the less likely I will accept further.
I will draw characters owned by a 3rd party if the commissioner provides explicit proof of 3rd party consent.
I will draw lewd/ero/pornographic depictions of 18+ aged characters.
- I will not draw lewd/ero/pornographic depictions of minors. This includes characters who appear to be adult but are canonically listed as being under 18. This also includes characters that appear to be children yet the canon states they're some adult age.
- I do not "age up" characters to skirt the age requirement.
- I will not accept requests that involve rape, vore, or any disturbing sexual fetish.
Commissions Involving My Own Characters
- I will accept requests for art of my characters.
- I may accept requests that cross over my characters with others if I approve of the scene.
- I will not accept requests involving lewd/ero/pornographic depictions of my characters unless I have explicitly already drawn lewd/ero/pornographic depictions of them myself.
Creator's (My) Rights
- I, the creator, maintain the right to post completed commissions to my SFW and NSFW Tumblr sites or my personal studio portfolio. The commissioner may request such posts omit commissioner name and/or social media links if desired.
- I, the creator, maintain the right to use completed commissions as sample imagery for commission slots.
- I, the creator, maintain the right to dictate usage of completed commissions (see following section).
- I, the creator, maintain the right to append or modify the terms of service at any time.
- I, the creator, maintain the right to assert my personal response as more authoritative than the currently available public terms of service.
General Acceptable Use Policy
- You may use commissioned work as a profile icon or header on social media accounts.
You may use commissioned work as channel artwork on YouTube or streaming services such as Twitch.
You may not use commissioned work as part of a de jure logotype (i.e., it cannot be part of your branding).
You may not resell commissioned work or derivatives thereof.
You may not use commissioned work in any other creative project (e.g., video games, art books), commercial or otherwise.
If using commissioned work as a profile icon or header on Twitter, please include "Icon/Header by @StarshadesJack" in your bio.
If you wish to share a commission on Tumblr, you are highly encouraged to re-blog my "official" post which shall be provided to you.
For any other display-of-work circumstance (or if unwilling or unable to comply with re-blogging), please include easily visible credit and a link to this profile.
Commercial Licensing
I do not have any plans for commercial licensing. If you are significantly determined to use commissioned work in your own project, I may be open to negotiating an ad hoc licensing agreement. This is not a guarantee.
One Week Defect "Insurance" Policy
All commissioned works are given a one week defect "insurance" beginning the moment they're marked completed by the commissioner. During this one week period, the commissioner may ask for minor fixes, tweaks, or alterations to the finished product free of charge. This includes:
- Color changes
- Fixing accidental color bleeds
- Fixing textual inaccuracies
- Adding additional tiny details
- (Case-by-case Basis) Minor redraws of smaller elements (finger positions, bangs, etc)
This does not include:
- Full re-draws
- Pose changes
- Adding additional characters
- Any other major changes
The Plain-Speak TL;DR
I will draw some things. I will not draw some things. I can't conceivably list everything I do or don't draw, will or won't allow. Just because the ToS doesn't forbid it, doesn't mean I don't forbid it. This is just a snapshot of my current stances. So, please ask if I will and ask before you do if it's not obviously spelled out here. Or, heck, ask anyway. It's entirely possible I've changed my mind about something.
Some of my declared rights as creator might seem a little powerful but I don't expect to ever need to exercise any of them. They're only there to protect myself, my rights, and my intellectual property on the off chance bad things happen. Or somebody decides to be an argumentative wise-arse.
