Harlan Lovestone is a visual artist and multi-media artist who has exhibited regionally in various parts of the United States. He is a 1996 recipient of the Art on the Move Fellowship in Detroit, Michigan, A Damas Gracias Poetry award winner in 1997, and most recently a Puffin Award winner in 2011 for art. During his time as an art student at the College for Creative Studies and Wayne State University in Michigan, Harlan was mentored by his professors such as African–American painter Gilda Snowden and such renown artists such as Frank Bowling and the late Al Loving. Much of Lovestone’s artwork deals with social understanding and creating dialogue via the context of painting, expressionism, multiculturalism, and new media forms. Harlan Lovestone continues to explore multimedia art making and is also a singer/songwriter, curator, social entrepreneur and educator who works with youth.
