5/3/22: Hello, I'm thankful for A&C for reinstating my account, but I think I still want to transition to using my website: https://artofawang.tumblr.com

Since I don't want to deal with the issue of randomly being deactivated in the middle of working (I don't know what specific incident got me temp banned, so I just can't predict when it'll happen again)

General Info

  • All commissions that come with a background will also get the default, transparent background version as well.
  • More schedule + product details can be found in My Terms. Process details will be discussed later in this Profile.
  • Tips are always greatly appreciated at https://www.paypal.me/kaness** <3

Work Turnaround

  • Queue: https://ka-ness.tumblr.com/q ; I will work in the order of this queue, one piece at a time. I will only start on a job once the job is paid for. I recommend only paying once I let you know I am ready to start on your job.
  • The only exception to what is stated above is for the Line Sketch art; queue order is still the priority, but I will try to finish up line sketch pieces as early as I can during extra free time periods. If I finish a line sketch piece before it is paid for, I will let you know that I have completed the piece and will only give it to you once it is paid for then. This exception/the skip over does not apply to the refined portion.
  • You can pay before I get to your job in the queue, but the queue’s order is my priority, so it is at your own risk. If I have extra free time, I can sneak in some work in your piece, but otherwise I will prioritize everything else stated above first.
  • Typical sketch art pieces take around average 3 days. Refined steps takes about the same time as the entire sketch art length (so about a week in total). Refined painting takes roughly around a week. More time is expected to be taken if 1) the request is not as straight-forward, and I’ll probably take an extra day planning it out 2) the nature of the request is complex, in which multiple extra days might be needed (can be weeks for the Refined Painting style). I typically will update you in 1-2 days unless I tell you otherwise, and feel free to ask for any WIPs whenever you want to see them.

Process

Colored Sketch Process

After the piece is paid for, I will send in the following order:

  • 1a) Rough pass (applies only when I don’t have the lines done efficiently or for concept clarification)
  • 1b) Sketch lines
  • 2a) Sketch lines + base colors of character(s) (Hard Watercolor art skips this step)
  • 2b) Basic lighting direction pass (applies only to Painterly art)
  • 3) Final look

I will only proceed to the next step once the current step is approved. Unlimited amount of revision requests, but will only take notes on design accuracy not quality ^^

Refined Option Process

The refined amount can be paid at *https://www.paypal.me/kaness after I finish the colored sketch piece. After paying for both for the sketch (via artistsnclients) and the refined (via paypal), I will send in the following order:

  • 1) Final lines
  • 2) Final lines + base colors
  • 3) Final look

Refined Painting also goes by partial payment; first payment (AnC portion) at the beginning, with the second payment (paypal portion) done after the base colors pass. This can also be paid in full, but the second payment portion is now required to be done through paypal only. Unlimited amount of revision requests~ ^^

Complexity Standards

I judge my colored sketches via the complexity of the designs I have to draw, so here's a breakdown of what I consider complex ^^

Simple Character Designs

  • Nudes/Characters in underwear
  • Casual/plain/simple outfits ie. outfits with limited colors, most modern outfits, “practical”-looking clothing
  • Any bust without complex headwear/shoulder guards

Mid-Tier Character Designs

  • Non-armored or simple-shaped/more organic looking armored fantasy/period outfit designs
  • Simple overall shapes, but can have more garment layers or patterned designs
  • Complex busts ie. having complex headwear/shoulder guards

Complex Character Designs

  • Designs with armor, especially heavy shoulder + arm + leg armor, and complex headwear
  • Intricate and detailed layering and patterning throughout outfit ie. think designs that require many short strokes as opposed to longer, more generalized strokes
  • Mecha, anything more structured/architectural looking
  • References that are harder to visualize ie. complicated design elements that are scattered through multiple ref images, cgi/painterly based reference images where it’s harder to color pick. Alternatively, if references are very easy to read, like for color picking (ie. ref sheet providing solid base colors) + a visual reference for pose provided, I might be more lax on my standards for complexity
  • For Refined Painting style: Designs with any prominent intricately structured armor pieces. Costs will go up an even higher category for full armor-type designs.

Full Armor Character Designs

  • This price category is only for Refined Painting style; by price these would just be considered “complex” for other styles.
  • Applies to designs that are pretty much fully covered with intricately structured armor/mecha designs.

If you want to pay for a lower tier price, but I deem the visual references to be more complex, I am willing to work with that so long as I can remove the elements I deem complex from the design (ie. armor parts, pattern detailing).

Recommended Request Format

  • Description: (what character(s), poses/facial expressions, personalities if important, lighting circumstances/color atmosphere if important, etc)
  • Framing: (bust, half, or full)
  • Visual references: (MUST provide visual representation of the character designs)
  • Background: (yes/no, description + references if yes)

Really appreciate anyone who is interested and read through all of this!
