I mainly use photoshop due to its wide arrange of tools; it lets me play around with a lot of aspects that I think really gives digital art the edge up on traditional media.
I'm not one to shy away from any genre and I often have phases of sudden interest in a new thing, often finding myself wanting to try applying it into my art.
